Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's volleyball team dropped a pair of non-conference matches, during a triangular event at home, on Saturday against Cairn University and Rutgers-Newark at The APEX Main Gym.
After Cairn (7-9) opened the tri-match losing a three-set encounter to Rutgers-Newark (15-0), the Highlanders bounced back later by winning three straight games (17-25, 20-25, 18-25) over hosts Lightning (5-15).
Peter Veljovic led Lehman with 10 kills, while
Amari Blake added six kills with three blocks and
Mentor Mahmuti dished out 17 assists with five digs in the loss.
In the nightcap, the Lightning dropped three-straight (14-25, 10-25, 15-25) to the undefeated Scarlet Raiders. Blake and Veljovic registered four kills each, while Mahmuti had 11 assists with three kills.
Lehman returns to CUNYAC action on Tuesday when it hosts CCNY at The APEX with first serve set for 7 pm.
