Myrtle Beach, S.C. – The Lehman College baseball team concludes its participation at The Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, S.C. on Tuesday with a 9-1 loss to Penn College. The Lightning fall to 0-9 mark, while the Wildcats improve to 1-4.
After trailing by three going into the top of the fifth inning, Lehman gave up four more runs as Penn College took a 7-0 lead.
With the Wildcats holding an 8-0 advantage going into the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lightning avoided the shutout and got on the board when infielder
Nomar Rijo hit his first collegiate home run.
Penn closed out the scoring with another run in the top of the ninth as it held Lehman to just three hits. Infielder Jarrin Glennd and outfielder
Kyle James each provided hits for Lehman.
The Lightning returns to action on Wednesday with their home opener at South Field as they take on non-conference rival Yeshiva University at 5 pm.
