Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lightning Cruise Past Cardinals

Melanie Siranaula found the back of the net just 77 seconds into the contest and the Lightning (4-5:1-1) added five more goals in the first half coming away with a 6-1 victory over York (0-4:0-2) in a CUNYAC women's soccer contest.

In total Siranaula tallied four times to secure her spot as the teams' leader in goals.  On the senior the graduate student has nine goal.  Her second came in the sixth minute after Micaela Canapa corner kick found Siranaula head.  Canapa found the back of the net four minutes later directly off a corner kick.  Some four minutes later Genevieve Pastena delivered a perfect through ball and Siranaula once again beat the York keeper low to the right side.  Siranaula's final tally of the night came in the 23rd minute on another trough ball, this time by Canapa.  Eliana Felix scored the Lightnings final goal of the night just eight minutes before halftime on an assist by Pastena.  It was the seniors first career goal.

The Cardinals got on the board in the 79th minute on a Taylor Bellmon breakaway.

The Lightning now have the week off to prepare for John Jay.  The Lightning and Bloodhounds will meet on the South Field next Wednesday at 4 PM.
