Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Suffer 1-0 Setback to John Jay

The Lehman College women's soccer team (4-6:1-2) came up just a little short falling to John Jay (6-5:3-0) 1-0 in a CUNYAC contest on the South Field.

The Lightning played the Bloodhounds scoreless through the first 45 minutes and had just as many chances to put the ball in the back of the net as their opponents.  However, the Bloodhounds Yomary Codero got the ball past Lehman keeper Rebecca Gritz in the 70th minute of play for the games only goal.  It was her first collegiate goal.

The Bloodhounds outshot the Lightning 11-7 and held an 8-3 advantage in shots on goal.  Gritz was credited with seven saves including stopping a penalty kick in the 35th minute.

With the loss the Lightning are now tied with the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College for third place in the CUNYAC.  As luck would have it the two teams meet on Saturday at noon to determine the third and fourth seed in the upcoming CUNYAC play-offs that begin on October 30.
