Women’s Soccer Secures Third Seed with a 4-1 Road Victory at Brooklyn

Just 95 seconds into the contest Melanie Huerta scored her first of three goals on the afternoon to give the Lightning a 1-0 lead en route to a 4-1 victory.  With the win Lehman improves to 5-6 overall and 2-2 in the CUNYAC.  The Bulldogs fall to 1-12:1-3.

Lehman extended their lead to 2-0 after Melanie Siranaula converted a penalty kick in the 33rd minute.  Huerta again found the back of the net at the 53:40 mark off a feed from Emily Herrera, giving the Lightning a three-goal advantage.  At the 59th minute mark Huerta recorded the hat-trick with an assist by Siranaula, her second helper on the afternoon.  The Bulldogs got on the scoreboard on a converted penalty kick by Rachel Gomez in the 72nd minute.

The Lightning out-shot the Bulldogs 22-4. Lehman net-minder Rebecca Gritz was called on to make three saves.

Lehman will now face CCNY, a team they lost to twice this season, in the semifinals on Saturday, October 30th.  A time and placed of the match will be announced this week.
