Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Lightning Zap Panthers

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's soccer team won its second consecutive game (and third in the last four) as it defeated visiting College at Old Westbury, 2-1, in a non-conference match-up at South Field on Monday evening.  The Lightning improve to 6-6 overall record, while the Panthers fall to 4-12 mark.

Lehman got on the board first (1-0) in just the opening 20 seconds of the game when midfielder Micaela Canapa fired a shot past Old Westbury goalkeeper Jennifer Pasquariello from just outside the 18-yard box off an assist from teammate Melanie Siranaula.

Forward Melanie Escobar level the game 1-1 for the Panthers with an unassisted tally in the 34th minute-mark.

Three minutes later, midfielder Melanie Huerta answered for the Lightning with an unassisted goal as she chipped a shot over the head of netminder Pasquariello from just inside the penalty box for the 2-1 final.

Lehman, which already secured a spot into semifinals of the CUNYAC Championships this weekend, will wrap up regular season play at South Field on Tuesday evening with a non-conference match-up against Yeshiva University at 7 pm ET.
