New York, NY – The Lehman College women's volleyball season came to an end tonight when the Hawks of Hunter defeated the Lightning in straight sets.
The third seeded Hawks took the first set 25-5 and followed that up with a 25-11 victory in the second and a 25-16 win in the third set. In the first set, the Hawks jumped out to an 8-1 lead and never looked back. Things didn't get much better in the second set as the Hawks recorded 11 kills enroute to victory. In the third set, the Lightning were leading 14-13 before Hunter ran off five straight points. After Lehman scored the next two points Hunter ran off seven straight points to seal the victory.
Andrea Alarcon led the Lightning with three kills and a pair of aces.
Heder Rodriguez paced Lehman with two assists and eight digs.
The Hawks move on to face second seed Baruch on Wednesday night in one of the semifinals.
