Box Score Brooklyn, N.Y. - The Lehman College women's basketball team posted its first victory of '21-22 campaign after defeating hosts Pratt Institute, 62-57, on Tuesday evening at the Pratt Arc. The Lightning go to a 1-3 overall record, while the Cannoneers drop to 2-3 mark.
After trailing in the first period (13-9), Lehman went on a 23 to 14 run in the second quarter to take a 32-27 lead into the intermission.
The Cannoneers rallied and cut the lead to one (36-35) with 3:14 remaining in the third period. However, the Lightning went on a 10 to 4 run to close out the quarter to take a seven-point advantage.
Pratt posted another comeback and level the score line at 50-50 with 6:01 remaining in the fourth period. However, Lehman closed out the quarter with a key 12 to 7 run that included five clutch free-throws by
Chinera Ortiz in the final 45 seconds for the victory.
Brianna Barnes led the Lightning offense with her fourth consecutive 'double-double' that included a career-high 32 points along with 13 rebounds. Ortiz added 11 points, while
Mojisola Shokeye scored nine points while grabbing eight boards and dishing out eight assists.
The Lightning will be back in action following the Thanksgiving Holiday as they travels to Brooklyn College for a CUNYAC match-up on December 3
rd at 5 pm ET.
