Game Recap: Men's Soccer |

Lightning Fall in Penalties

Brooklyn, NY – The Baruch Bearcats topped the Lehman Lightning 3-1 in Penalty kicks to win the CUNYAC Championship.  The game was tied 1-1 after 110 minutes and after the Lightning made their first penalty, they missed their next three meanwhile Baruch missed their first kick but converted the next three to give them a margin that the Lightning would not be able to overcome.

The teams were feeling each other out most of the first half until the Bearcats found the back of the net on a Felix Munoz right footed strike inside the box off a feed from Bianco Bambaren.  The Lightning had several free kick chances in the final 20 minutes of the first half but could not muster a serious threat.

Ten minutes into the second half Christian Rodriguez almost got the equalizer ringing a shot off the post.

Baruch kept the Lightning high powered offense in check until the 86th minute. Off a free kick from 25-yards out, Eduardo Victorio drilled a right footed shot low to the keepers right off an assist from Mubarak Oruo.  Two minutes later the Bearcats almost got the game winner off the foot of Jaedon Seneca but Demiraldo Grunasi made his toughest save of the night.

In the extra time, neither team scored and the game went to penalty kicks to decide the conference title with the Bearcats prevailing 3-1.    Officially the game goes down as a tie with Baruch winning the Championship and the automatic bid to the NCAA Championship.
