Gian Batista recorded his third double double in as many games in leading the Lightning (5-1) to a 92-87 road victory at Centenary (5-3). The 92 points were a season high for the Lightning.
Batista netted 23 points, 8-13 from the field, while grabbing a career high 15 rebounds.
Isaiah Geathers also delivered another strong effort with 25 points on 10-18 shooting. Also in double figures were
Will Feldman (18 points) and
Mo Idrissou (17 points).
The first half was a back-and-forth affair. With the game tied at 17 at the 10:45 mark, the Lightning went on an 8-3 to take a five-point lead. Lehman stretched the lead to seven, after a Batista traditional three-point play with 3:23 to play in the half. The Lightning settled on a 42-36 advantage at the break. The Cyclones came out of the locker room to tie the game at 49. The Lightning took the lead for good at the 13:56 mark on an Idrissou three-pointer to give Lehman a 58-57 lead. The Lightning extended the lead to 10, 80-70, after another Batista traditional three-point play with 5:32 to play. The Cyclones battled back cutting the Lightning advantage to four but would not get any closer.
Lehman shot an impressive .532 from the field (33-62) and 9-22 from long range (.409). The Lightning controlled the boards out-rebounding the Cyclones 50-40.
Lehman will travel to Sarah Lawrence on Saturday before hosting Mitchell in the APEX on Tuesday, December 14.
