The Lehman College men's soccer team had their two game winning streak snapped by Western Connecticut 6-0 in Danbury, CT on Thursday night. With the loss the Lightning now stand at 2-2-1 while the Colonials stand at 7-3.
The Colonials jumped on the Lightning early scoring goals in the sixth (Franz Muhaj) and 10
th (Lorenzo Lauria) minute of the game. It stayed that way unit halftime. In the second half, Western Connecticut kept the pressure on as Muhaj added two more goals in the 56
th and 60
th minute. A minute later Matthew Restrepo found the back of the net. In the 69
th minute the Colonials were credited with a team goal.
The Colonials out shot Lehman 23-7 but the Lightning did hold the edge in corners 6-2. Lehman goalkeeper Demarildo Grunasi was credited with three saves and back up keeper
Tony Flores registered four saves in 26 minutes of action.
The Lightning return to action on Wednesday, September 29 when the Bulldogs of Brooklyn College invade the South Field in the CUNYAC opener.
