Men’s Soccer Top Hunter; Book Ticket To CUNYAC Final

Bronx, N.Y. – Second half goals by forwards Malik Lashley and Phillip Osei gave the hosts Lehman College men's soccer team its ticket to the CUNYAC Championship Final after a 2-0 victory against Hunter College during the semifinals on Saturday at South Field.  The Lightning improve to a 9-4-2 overall record, while the Hawks fall to 7-7-1 mark.

Lehman advances to its second consecutive CUNYAC Championship Final and will once again face Baruch College, next Saturday afternoon (November 5th) at Queens College, for the conference crown and the automatic berth to the NCAA Division III Tournament.

The back-and-forth encounter was determined in the final 11 minutes as Osei broke the scoreless deadlock with his eighth goal of the season off an assist from midfielder Mohammad Jagne.  A minute later, Lashley, who had just checked into the game for Lehman, notched his second tally of the season off a cross from defender Keven Umanzor.  Lightning goalkeeper Demiraldo Grunasi had two key saves for his third shutout of the season.

At the game's conclusion, the Lehman Athletics Department hosted a brief celebratation as it honored the following seniors: Demetrios Argyros, Keith Burns, Grunasi, Jagne, Jimmy Lopez, Mubarak Ouro, Adrian Magana-Santos, Ryuji Sugiyama, Michael Thomas and Umanzor.
