New York, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's volleyball team dropped a three-set (16-25, 23-25, 11-25) opening round match of CUNYAC Championships to hosts John Jay College on Tuesday at The Doghouse. The Lightning ended their season with a 6-16 overall record, while the Bloodhounds, who advanced to the conference semifinals, improved to a 14-13 mark.
After losing the first set, Lehman had a 23-20 lead late in the second set. John Jay then scored five consecutive points to win the second set.
In the third, Bloodhounds jumped to a 14-10 lead and then went on an 11 to 1 run to win the set and the match.
Outside hitter Selena Mitchell posted six kills and six digs for Lehman, while teammate Daira Hernandez had five kills and libero Lizbeth Perez grabbed 10 digs.
