Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team dropped both games of the CUNYAC doubleheader to visiting Hunter College, by scores of 8-0 and 17-1, respectively, at South Field on Wednesday. The Lightning fall to 4-6 overall record and 2-4 in CUNYAC action, while the Hawks improve to 7-7 mark and 6-0 in conference play.
In the opener Hunter scored seven runs on six hits to take the lead (7-0)) after two innings. Despite holding the visitors to just a single run after that, the damage was done as Lehman manage just three hits in the game.
Michelle Frias had two hits, while
Lizbeth Perez added the third.
In the nightcap, the Hawks jumped to a 3-0 advantage in the top of the first. However, the Lightning answered with Fries' RBI single allowed Perez to score to make it 3-1 in the bottom half of the inning. However, that would be all the offense for Lehman as Hunter scored 14 more times for the victory.
The Lightning continue CUNYAC action on Friday when they travel to take on York College-NY in a twin-bill at Padavan-Preller Field with the first pitch set for noon.
