Jamaica, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team swept a CUNYAC twin-bill from hosts York College-NY, with scores of 31-4 and 27-8, respectively, at Padavan-Preller Field on Friday. The Lightning improve to a 6-6 overall ledger and 4-4 in CUNYAC action, while the Cardinals drop to 0-10 mark and 0-6 in conference play.
In the doubleheader opener, Lehman jumped out to an 17-0 lead in the first inning and never looked back.
Doribel Duran paced the Lightning offense going three-for-four with five RBI and four runs scored.
Michelle Frias added a homer along with two runs scored and four RBI, while
Dolly Diaz and
Lizbeth Perez both drove in four runs each.
Sky Mercado pitched four innings for the Lehman victory on the mound.
In the nightcap, the Lightning scored in each of the innings as the offense was led by Perez who hit two homers, drove in a total of eight RBI and crossed the plate four times. On the mound
Jessica Perez pitched five strong innings and struck out six batters for the win.
Lehman will once again face York-NY this Monday in a CUNYAC twin-bill at South Field with the first pitch set for 3 pm ET.
