Lightning Fall to Baruch 8-0, Twice

The Lehman College women's softball team (2-4) opened up conference play this afternoon falling to Baruch (10-6:4-0) in both ends of a doubleheader by the identical score of 8-0.

In game one, the Lightning were able to muster four hits but committed four errors in the field, which led to eight runs, six earned.  Samantha Nazar went the distance for Lehman striking out six.  The Bearcats jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the home half of the first as they scored a pair of runs on two hits.  They added an unearned run in the second, two more in the fourth, one in the fifth and a pair in the sixth for the final margin of victory.

In the second game, the Lightning only recorded two hits in defeat.  Baruch hurler Caroline Gallagher kept the Lightning at bay striking out five without giving up a walk.  After a scoreless first inning the Bearcats plated six in the home half of the second on four hits.  The big hit of the inning was a bases loaded inside the park home run by Carly Quint.

The Lightning return to action on Thursday night as they host Brooklyn at 5 PM in a CUNYAC doubleheader.
