Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team dropped both games of its CUNYAC Doubleheader against visiting John Jay College, by scores of 12-2 and 9-0, respectively, at South Field on Monday. The Lightning fall to 8-10 overall record and 6-8 in CUNYAC action, while the Bloodhounds improve to 11-17 mark and 8-6 in conference play.
In the opener, Lehman took a 2-0 lead after the first inning of play, however John Jay scored one in the second, three in the third to take a 4-2 advantage. Then the Bloodhounds crossed the plate three more times in the fifth inning and five in the sixth for the victory.
Samantha Nazar had an RBI double and scored a run for the Lightning, while
Michelle Frias also drove in a run off a single, while
Lizbeth Perez went one-for-two with a run scored.
In the nightcap, Lehman held John Jay off the scoreboard for two innings before surrendering nine runs in the next three innings. The highlight for the Lightning was Nazar as her single in the bottom of the fourth ended the Bloodhounds' no hitter.
Lehman continues CUNYAC action on Wednesday when it travels to take on Hunter College in a twin-bill at Randall's Island with the first pitch set for 3 pm ET.
