Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team blanked visiting Brooklyn College, 6-0, in the opening round encounter of CUNYAC Championship on Tuesday at South Field.  The Lightning improve to a 11-14 overall record, while the Bulldogs conclude their campaign with a 6-21 mark.

After a scoreless opening two and half innings, Lehman took advantage of a couple of errors by Brooklyn to score three runs and take a 3-0 lead.  

After adding two more in the fourth inning and one more in the fifth the Lightning had all offense they needed as Samantha Nazar pitched a three-hit complete game with 10 strikeouts for the victory.

For Lehman offense, Dolly Diaz scored twice and drove in two runs, while Doribel Duran also crossed the plate on two occasions and went one-for-two.

The Lightning advance to the semifinals of double-elimination CUNYAC Championship and will face number one seeded Hunter College at 11 am ET at Brooklyn College Softball Field.
