Bronx, N.Y. – A 'double-double' (14 points, 12 rebounds) from center
DeAundre Manuel led the Lehman College men's basketball team to its first victory of the '23-'24 season after defeating visiting Sarah Lawrence College, 64-44, in a non-conference encounter on Tuesday evening at The APEX Main Gym. The Lightning go to a 1-5 overall record, while the Gryphons drop to a 1-6 mark.
After Sarah Lawrence took an early lead (3-2), Lehman went on a 35 to 22 run to take a 12-point halftime lead (37-25) and never trailed after that. The Lightning continued to outscore the Gryphons in the second half, 27 to 19 for the 20-point victory.
Guard Elijan Avilla scored 13 points, including four-for-seven from three-point range, for Lehman, while teammate
Jayden Stephens added 10 points.
The Lightning commence CUNYAC action on Friday (December 1st) when they travel to take on York College-NY with tip-off set for 7 pm ET.
