The Lehman College women's basketball team picked up their first win of the season, downing CUNYAC rival York 72-44 to move into a tie for first place atop the CUNYAC standings. Rama Diallo led the way for Lehman with 27 points and 11 rebounds, earning her fourth double double of the season. Lady Ozorio chipped in 14 points while grabbing 8 rebounds. Allerza Pena added 10 points for the victors.
Lehman(1-8:1-0) jumped out to a 22-4 lead after the first quarter and never looked back. By the end of the second quarter, the Lightning extended their lead to 35-15. The Cardinals (0-6:0-1) would not get closer in the second half.
The Lehman pressure defense forced 33 turnovers and held York to 16 field goals on 56 attempts (.286).
The Lightning will now take the next two and half weeks off before returning to the APEX to host the annual Coaches vs Cancer Tournament. This year's field including, Salem St (MA), Pitt-Bradford and Hope. The Lightning will battle Pitt-Bradford on Thursday, December 28 at 2 PM. Hope and Salem tip-off at 12 PM. The consolation and championship games will be contested the following afternoon.
