Softball Drop Twin-Bill Opener To Mount St. Vincent

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team dropped a non-conference twin-bill to visiting College of Mount St. Vincent (3-1, 9-0) in the season's opening day at South Field on Friday.  The Lightning fell to an 0-2 overall record, while the Dolphins go to a 2-0 mark.
 
Trailing 3-0 in the opener going into the bottom of the seventh with two outs, Lehman's outfielder Lizbeth Perez scored after a bases loaded walk by shortstop Kaycee Isley to make 3-1.  However, catcher Taina Santamaria grounded out to end the rally while stranding three runners on base.  Despite the loss, Samantha Nazar pitched a complete game giving up just five hits and striking out nine batters.
 
In the nightcap, the Lightning's four errors cost them the encounter as Dolphins' eight of their nine runs were unearned, while the hosts only got two hits in five innings.
 
Lehman returns to action next Tuesday (March 14th) when it hosts Baruch College in a non-conference game at South Field with first pitch set for 3:30 pm ET.
