Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team swept a non-conference twin-bill against host Yeshiva University by scores of 21-0, 19-3, on Tuesday evening at Bahoshy Field in Fordham University. The Lightning improved to a 4-4 overall ledger, while the Maccabees go to a 2-6 mark.
In the opener, outfielder
Lizbeth Perez went a perfect five-for-five from the plate, while scoring four times, a homer and drove in three RBI for Lehman. Also with three RBI each were infielder
Kaycee Isley (two-for-four with a run scored) and pitcher
Samantha Nazar (two-for-three with three runs scored). Nazar also pitched a one-hitter while striking out eight batters.
After a first inning 1-1 deadlock in the nightcap, Lightning scored four times in the second, three in the third and 11 more in the fourth to pull away for the victory. Infielders
Jesiuka Cabral (three-for-four with one run scored),
Andrea Alarcon (three-for-four with two runs scored) and Nazar (two-for-four with one run scored) all drove in three RBI each for Lehman. Perez had another perfect performance at bat going four-for-four with three runs scored and two RBI, while pitcher
Sky Mercado gave up one earned run while striking out six for the victory.
The Lightning are back in action on Thursday (March 30
th) when they hosts New Jersey City University in a non-conference doubleheader at South Field with first pitch set for 4 pm ET.
