Beavers Top Lightning in CUNYAC Volleyball Playoffs

The Lehman College men's volleyball team fell 3-0 to CCNY (13-6) in the opening round of the CUNYAC post-season tournament.  The fourth seeded Beavers prevailed by scores of 25-19, 25-13 and 27-25. The Lightning season comes to a close and finish the year with an 11-14 record. 


In the first set, with CIty leading 18-15, the Beavers won five straight points to take control of the set before prevailing 25-19.  In the second set with the score tied at six, CCNY went on an 8-2 run to lead 14-8.  Lehman was unable to mount a comeback.  In the third set, the most competitive of the night, CCNY jumped out to a 4-1 lead.  The Lightning battled back and took an 8-6 lead.  With the set tied at 11, Lehman went on a 5-2 run to take a 16-13.  CCNY would battle back to knot it up at 17.  The set was tied five more times and finally with the score tied at 25, the Beavers scored two consecutive points to win the match. 


Ray Rodriguez led the Lightning with 6 kills and 12 digs.  Andrew Figueroa added five kills and 8 digs while Christian Agudo was credited with 16 assists. 


The Beavers move on to face top seed Hunter on Thursday night in the semi-finals.
