Nelson Named CUNYAC Feamle Field Performer of the Week

Nidia Nelson was named the CUNYAC Female Field Performer of the Week for the week ending April 23, 2023.

At the ESU All-American Invitational, Nelson, set a personal best in the hammer throw where she placed 9th in a toss of 34.52m. She also had three other top 10 finishes: in discus throw she placed 9th with a toss of 21.54m; in both the javelin (17.18m) and shot put (7.61m) she placed 10th.

At 2023 Rider Invitational, a freshman from Mt. Vernon, set three more personal bests: in the discus she placed 18th with a toss of 22.34m; in the javelin throw she placed 15th with a toss of 25.87m; and in the 200m she ran 32.34 to place 39th. Additionally, she place 19th in the hammer (28.24m) and 20th on the shot put (8.42m). She also ran the 100m where she placed 28th with a time of 14.67

Nelson and her team mates will be back in action again on Friday as they travel to the nutmeg state to participate in the Central Connecticut State University Invitational.
