New Britain, Conn. – The Lehman College men's and women's outdoor track and field teams took part in the Central Connecticut State University Invitational on Friday in which the Lightning finished within the top 10 in 10 events that included Division I sides.
The Lehman women captured the silver and bronze medals in two team events. The side composed of
Karen Solano,
Jovan Figueroa,
Margaret Odonkor and
Gabriella Ortiz-Menendez were runners-up in the 4x400 Meter Relay clocking in at 5:54.56, while the foursome of
Tiffiny Azubuike,
Kimarea Brown,
Elainne Rojas Mesa and
Judith Robles Reyes were third in the 4x100 Meter Relay with a time of 1:00.54.
In the women's individual competitions,
Karen Solano claimed the bronze in the 1500m (6:19.20), while
Shemone Heron placed ninth in the 100m (14.38).
Aminata Sissoko took fifth spot in the 400m (1:03.66) and 10th in the Long Jump (4.22m)
The Lightning men had two sides taking fifth place as
Ismael Barry,
Jonathan Augustin,
Michael Essien and
Dontay Washington did it in the 4x100 Meter Relay with a time of 47.88), while in the 4x400 Augustin,
Michael Essien,
Tony Haripersaud and Raymond Rodriguez clocked in at 4:08.70.
In the men's individual events,
Ismael Barry finished ninth in the 400m (54.31), while
Tony Haripersaud was 10th (54.85) in the same race and in the 400m Hurdles (1:08.57).
Lehman is back in action on Sunday (April 30th) with one more competition before the CUNYAC Championships as it participates at the Yale University Springtime Invitational in New Haven, Conn. with the first event set for 10 am ET.
