Bronx, N.Y. –
Samantha Nazar pitched two no-hitters for the hosts Lehman College softball team as it swept the non-conference twin-bill on Thursday against Yeshiva University, both with same scoreline of 17-0, at South Field. The Lightning improved to a 6-16 overall record, while the Maccabees go to a 2-25 mark.
Prior to the doubleheader, the Lehman athletics department honored the seniors
Andrea Alarcon and
Taina Santamaria.
Infielder
Kaycee Isley led the Lightning offense in the opener with six RBI as she scored three time, while going four-for-four. Outfielder
Lizbeth Perez drove in three runs and crossed home plate three times, while going three-for-four with a homer-run. Infielder
Nidia Nelson also had three RBI as she was one-for-three with a run scored, while Nazar struck out nine batters for the victory.
In the nightcap, infielder
Patria Sanchez led the way for Lehman as she was two-for-three with two runs scored and three RBI, while Perez went three-for-four and scored three times with two RBI. Isley and Nelson also drove in two runs each, while Nazar once again struck out nine for the second consecutive shutout win.
The Lightning are back in action this Saturday (May 6th) as it hosts York College-NY in a CUNYAC twin-bill at South Field with the first pitch set for noon.
