Newark, N.J. – The Lehman College women's volleyball team a pair of three-set non-conference matches to Purchase College (20-25, 19-25, 14-25) and hosts Rutgers-Newark (13-25, 5-25, 23-25) at The Golden Dome on Saturday.
In the opener, the Lightning (1-9) took a 10-9 lead in the first set against the Rutgers Scarlet Raiders (6-3), however the home side went on a 16 to 3 run to claim it. Rutgers then went on to post consecutive triumphs in sets two and three to capture the match.
Arianna Calderon had two kills and nine digs for Lehman, while
Ana Mena dished out six assists and hit two kills.
After losing the first set in the nightcap against Purchase Panthers (3-7), the Lightning jumped out to an early advantage, 1-0, in the second set. However, Purchase outscored Lehman 25 to 18 to win the set and then captured the third for the match victory.
Lehman continues its road swing on Tuesday (September 26th) when it visits Saint Elizabeth University, in a non-conference match, with first serve set for 7 pm ET.
