Kai Parris had a 'double-double' (19 points, 16 rebounds) to lead the Lehman College men's basketball team to its third consecutive victory as it defeated the hosts Medgar Evers College, 77-71, in CUNYAC match-up, on Tuesday evening at the Cougars Cave. The Lightning go to a 13-8 overall record and 8-2 in CUNYAC action, while the Cougars drop to a 2-19 mark and 0-10 in conference play.
Lehman had a 14-point lead (62-48) with 7:30 remaining in the second half, however Medgar Evers went on a 23 to 13 run to cut the deficit to 75-71 with six seconds left. Guard
Juan Fernandez hit a pair of clutch free throws in the closing seconds as the Lightning held on for the victory.
Fernandez had 17 points for Lehman, while center
DeAundre Manuel also had a 'double-double' (17 points, 18 boards) and guard
Cameron Burns added 14 points.
The Lightning are back in action on Saturday (February 3rd) when they take on CUNYAC rival York College-NY during Homecoming Weekend at The APEX Main Gym with tip-off set for 3 pm ET.
