New York, N.Y. – A second-half tally by midfielder
Emily Huerta gave the Lehman College women's soccer team a 1-0 triumph over hosts CCNY, in a CUNYAC action, on Saturday at Randall's Island. The Lightning improved to a 9-3 overall record and a perfect 4-0 in CUNYAC action, while the Beavers dropped to a 1-9-2 mark and 0-2-1 in conference play.
After a scoreless first half, Huerta notched the only tally of the game for Lehman in the 47th minute-mark off forward
Lory Castro.
Despite the Beavers posting a 16 to 9 edge on total shots and with a player advantage, with the ejection of Lighting forward
Stephanie Roldan in the 81st minute, Lehman still held on for the victory.
Lightning goalkeeper
Katelyn Rice made seven saves for her fourth complete shutout of the season.
The win also secures Lehman one of the two top spots in the CUNYAC Standings and will host a home game during the postseason.
The Lightning are back in action on Wednesday (October 23rd) when they travel to take on Medgar Evers College, in a non-conference game, at 3:15 pm ET.
