Huerta’s Hat-Trick Lead Women’s Soccer Past Medgar Evers

Brooklyn, N.Y. – For the third time this season, midfielder Emily Huerta had a three-goal game (hat-trick) as she led the Lehman College women's soccer team to a 9-1 victory against hosts Medgar Evers College in a non-conference match, on Wednesday, at Calvert Vaux Park.  The Lightning improved to a 10-3 overall record, while the Cougars dropped to an 0-8 mark.

Along with Huerta's tallies, defender Esmeralda Santos Valencia notched two goals while forwards Maria Martinez, Natalie Kola, defender Roselyn Vasquez Max and goalkeeper Katelyn Rice each added one for Lehman's offense.

Rice and netminder Ashley Gomez each saw action in goal for the Lightning while making one save each.

The 10 victories this season for Lehman is also the most since the 2017 campaign.

The playoff bound Lightning conclude the regular season on Saturday (October 26th) when it travels to Randall's Island to take on John Jay College at noon in a battle for first-place in CUNYAC Conference.
