Old Westbury, N.Y. – For the first time since the 2017-18 season, the Lehman College women's basketball team has a four-game winning streak after it posted an 86-60 victory on Wednesday evening against hosts College at Old Westbury, at the Clark Athletic Center. The Lightning go to a 5-3 overall record, while the Panthers dropped to an 0-9 mark.
After holding a slim two-point advantage (21-19) at the end of the first quarter, Lehman when on a 23 to 11 run in the second period and then added another 24 to 15 run in the third to pull away for the victory.
Three players notched 'double-doubles' for the Lightning on Wednesday. Leading the way was guard
Heaven Figueroa who scored 30 points with 12 rebounds. Forward
Emily Kennedy was an assist (nine) away from a 'triple-double' when she notched 18 points and 12 boards. Center
Ciara Shillingford had 11 points and 12 rebounds, while forward
Nikol Gnoutou added 11 points and nine rebounds.
Lehman will return to action in 16 days, when it hosts its annual CUNY Coaches vs. Cancer Tournament at The APEX Main Gym. The Lightning are scheduled to face Neumann University in the opening round encounter on Friday (December 27th) at 2 pm ET.
