New York, N.Y. – The Lehman College men's basketball dropped a heartbreaking 73-71 CUNYAC Championship Finale to hosts Baruch College on Friday at the ARCO Arena. The Lightning go to an 18-10 overall record, while the Bearcats improved to a 19-8 mark and advanced to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
After trailing 37-32 at the intermission, Lehman posted a comeback in the second stanza and tied the encounter at 68 with 54 seconds remaining after forward
Kai Parris hit two consecutive free throws. Baruch then hit a three-pointer with 25 seconds remaining to take a 71-68 advantage.
After Lightning guard
Cameron Burns notched two free throws to cut the lead to just one point (71-70) with 16 seconds remaining, the Bearcats had consecutive chances to put the game away with two trips to the free throw line, however they mustered only two of four shots from the line for a 73-71 edge with two seconds left on the clock. Lehman's last second chance was a three-pointer missed by guard
Juan Fernandez.
Parris led the Lightning offense with 23 points and Burns had 13 points while dishing out six assists as both were selected to the CUNYAC All-Tournament Team.
