Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team swept a non-conference twin-bill against hosts Yeshiva University, 23-0 and 19-3, on Tuesday evening at Fordham University. The Lightning go to a 2-1-1 overall record, while the Maccabees fall to an 0-2 mark.
In the opener, Lehman took a 10-run lead after the first inning with shortstop
Patria Sanchez and outfielder
Kaycee Isley each hitting three-run homers. Isley also went three-for-four with six total RBI while Sanchez, outfielder
Lizbeth Perez and infielder
Yudelis Pena all had three hits and three RBI.
Jireh Espina pitched a one-hitter with 12 strikeouts for the victory on the mound.
In the nightcap, the Lightning had three-run advantage after two innings, however they added nine runs in the third and two each in the fourth and fifth, respectively, for the second victory of the evening. Espina, Sanchez, Perez, outfielder
Natalie Kola all hit homers for Lehman. Sanchez amassed a four total RBI and Perez drove in three runs, while Isley got the victory on the mound.
Lehman returns to action on Thursday (March 14th) with its twin-bill openers at South Field against non-conference opponent Saint Elizabeth University as first pitch is set for 4 pm ET.
