Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team dropped a non-conference twin-bill against visiting College of Mount St. Vincent, 10-1 and 10-9 (8 innings), on Tuesday at South Field. The Lightning go to a 3-8-1 overall record, while the Dolphins improved to a 2-10 mark.
The Lehman highlights in the opener was outfielder
Lizbeth Perez who scored the only run while going two-for-three at bat. Shortstop
Patria Sanchez drove in Perez as she was one-for-two from the plate.
In the nightcap, the Dolphins took a 3-0 advantage in the first inning before the Lightning scored six times in the bottom of the second for a 6-3 lead. After Mount St. Vincent made it 7-6 in its favor after five innings of action, three Lehman batters crossed home plate in the bottom of the six for a 9-7 advantage. The Dolphins scored twice in the seventh inning to tie the game and send it to extra innings, where it re-gained the lead with a run the top of the eighth for the victory. Nicole Lopez was two-for-four as she crossed home plate twice and drove in two runs.
Lehman continues its home stand on Thursday (March 28th) when it takes on SUNY Canton in a non-conference twin-bill at South Field with first pitch set for 2 pm ET.
