Softball Sweep Twin-Bill From Sarah Lawrence

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team ended a five-game losing streak as it swept a non-conference twin-bill from visiting Sarah Lawrence College, 14-6, 16-0, on Saturday at South Field.  The Lightning go to a 5-8-1 overall record, while the Gryphons drop to an 0-8 mark.

After trailing 3-0 early in the opener, Lehman scored 14 runs to take the lead and held for the victory.  Outfielder Natlie Kola drove in three runs for the Lightning, while going two-for-two with a run scored.  Infielder Yudelis Pena was three-for-three with three runs scored and an RBI, while Jireh Espina struck out six batters for the victory on the mound.

In the nightcap, Lehman scored all its runs in the first three innings, while Espina pitched a three-hit shutout with five strikeouts for the win.  On offense, short stop Patria Sanchez went three-for-four with a homer, three runs scored and five RBI, while infielder Kaycee Isley also homered with two runs scored and two RBI.  

The Lightning return to action next Wednesday (April 3rd) when they welcome Yeshiva University, in a non-conference twin-bill, at South Field, with first pitch set for 5 pm ET.
