Canton, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team lost both encounters of the non-conference doubleheader against the hosts SUNY Canton, 8-7, 11-5, on Monday at the Canton Softball Field. The Lightning go to a 7-12-1 overall record, while the Roos improved to a 3-17 mark.
In the opener, Canton took a 7-1 lead after four innings of action. Then, Lehman scored three times in the top of fifth to cut the hosts advantage to 7-4. After each side scored in the sixth inning, the Lightning got two more runs in the top of the seventh, however the Roos held on for the victory. Infielder
Patria Sanchez was three-for-four with two runs scored and three RBI for Lehman, while outfielder
Lizbeth Perez was two-for-four with two runs scored.
In the nightcap, Lehman had a 4-1 advantage heading into the fourth inning, however Canton scored three times in the bottom of the inning, then three more in the fifth and four in the sixth for the win. Sanchez was two-for-three with two RBI for the Lightning, while infielder
Kaycee Isley went two-for-four with an RBI and Perez was one-for-three with three runs scored.
Lehman continues its road trip on Thursday (April 25th) when it travels to take on Brooklyn College, in a CUNYAC twin-bill, at 4 pm ET.
