Brooklyn, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team dropped a CUNYAC twin-bill to hosts Brooklyn College, 7-5, 6-5, on Thursday at BC Field. The Lightning go to a 7-14-1 overall record and 2-4 CUNYAC action, while the Bulldogs improved 11-13 mark and 4-4 in conference play.
In the opener, Lehman had a 5-3 advantage going into the bottom of the six inning when Brooklyn scored four times in bottom half of the inning for the lead and later held on for the victory. Outfielder
Lizbeth Perez went two-for-four with two runs scored for the Lightning, while shortstop
Yudelis Pena was two-for-three with a run scored. Outfielder
Natalie Kola was one-for-three with a run scored, while catcher
Jelene Figueroa was also one-for-three with a home run.
In the nightcap, Lehman once again took the lead early (3-1), before Brooklyn scored three times in the third inning for a 4-3 advantage. After the Bulldogs added two more runs in the sixth inning, the Lightning attempted a comeback in the seventh and got two runs, however the hosts held on for the victory. Kola drove in two runs as she went one-for-three for Lehman, while Sanchez and infielder
Lanaiyah Henriquez each added an RBI.
The Lightning are back in action on Monday (April 29th) hosting Hunter College in a CUNYAC doubleheader at South Field with first pitch set for 1 pm ET.
