Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team dropped a non-conference twin-bill to visiting New Jersey City University, 15-2, 20-1, on Tuesday at South Field. The Lightning go to a 7-18-1 overall record, while the Gothics Knights improved to a 13-22 mark.
New Jersey City jumped to a 10-2 lead after four innings of action, in the opener, before adding five more runs in the fifth for the win. Infielder
Jireh Espina was two-for-two for Lehman, while shortstop
Patria Sanchez was one-for-one with a run scored and RBI. Outfielder Lizbeth had the other run for the Lightning, while pitcher Kaycee added an RBI.
In the nightcap, the Gothics Knights had an 8-1 advantage after two innings of play before scoring eight more in the third, and two each in the fourth and fifth innings, respectively for the victory. Outfielder
Jelene Figueroa went two-for-two for Lehman, while Espina and Sanchez were one-for-two.
The Lightning continue their home stand at South Field on Friday (May 3rd) with a CUNYAC twin-bill against John Jay College at 4 pm ET.
