Lory Castro posted her first collegiate hat-trick as she scored three times to lead the Lehman College women's soccer team to a 4-0 victory against the hosts University of Valley Forge, in a non-conference game, on Saturday at The Patriot Field. The Lightning go to a 1-0 overall record, while the Patriots fall to a 1-2 mark.
Castro scored her first collegiate goal for Lehman in the opening 15th minute of the encounter off an assist from midfielder
Barbara Meda to a 1-0 advantage.
In the second half, midfielder
Emily Huerta increased the Lightning lead to 2-0 with a tally in the 55th minute-mark.
Castro would notch two more goals in the 61st and 74th minutes, respectively for Lehman, while goalkeeper
Katelyn Rice earned her first collegiate shutout victory.
The LIghtning will open their home season encounters on Tuesday (September 10th) when they take on Yeshiva University, in a non-conference match, at South Field with kick off set for 7 pm ET.
