Box Score New York, N.Y. – Despite having three players score in double-figures (forward
Emily Kennedy – 18; guard
Heaven Figueroa – 12; center
Ciara Shillingford – 12) it wasn't enough for the Lehman College women's basketball team as it lost to hosts and CUNYAC leader Hunter College, 82-50, on Wednesday evening at the Hunter Sportsplex. The Lightning go to an 8-9 overall record and 4-2 in conference play, while the Hawks improved to a 10-4 mark and a perfect 6-0 in CUNYAC action.
After Lehman took an early 8-2 lead, Hunter went on a 36 to 13 run in the rest of the first period and into the second quarter to take a 17-point lead into the intermission. The Hawks continued to outscore the Lightning in the next two periods to remain undefeated and in sole possession of first place in CUNYAC standings.
Along with her points for Lehman, Kennedy had eight rebounds and five assists, while Shillingford grabbed 10 boards.
The Lightning will look to get back on the winning track when they hosts Baruch College in a CUNYAC match-up at The APEX Main Gym on Friday (January 24th) at 5:30 pm ET.
