Middletown, Conn. – The Lehman College men's soccer team fell by a score of 8-1 to hosts Wesleyan University during the first round of the NCAA Division III Championship on Saturday at Jackson Field. The Lightning concluded the season with 10-3-4 overall record, while the Cardinals go to a 10-4-4 mark.
Wesleyan jumped out to a 4-0 halftime lead after tallies from defender Riley Harvey, midfielders Yousuf Saeed, Niall Fergus and forward Joshwin Jennings.
After midfielder Aiden Londergan increased the home side's advantage to 5-0 early in the second stanza, the Lehman got on the score board in the 54th minute with a penalty kick tally from forward
Ashraf Abubakar. However, midfielder Will Martin notched two goals and forward Chris Bates added another to close out the offense for the Cardinals.
