The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) announced their post season awards this morning. Three Lehman Student-athletes were recognized.
Heaven Figueroa was named a 1
st Team All-Star,
Emily Kennedy was named a 2
nd Team All-Star and
Julieni Martinez was named to the Sportsmanship Team.
Figueroa, a transfer from Hampton University, played in 25 games and led the team, averaging 24.8 points per game which ranks third in the conference. She was a two-time CUNYAC Player of the Week and earned National Team of Week Recognition back in mid-January. She also leads the squad in rebounding (8.8rpg) and ranks second on the team in assists (89) which both ranks sixth in CUNYAC. Her 122 steals lead the team and ranks second in the conference.
Kennedy, transferred to Lehman after a successful career at Bronx CC. The Bronx native started every game averaging 13.7 points per contest (eighth in CUNYAC). She led the team in assists with 133 which ranks second in the conference. She also ranks in the top 10 in rebounding (7.7 rpg) and steals (2.6 spg).
Martinez, a freshman, earned 23 starts this season. She was named the CUNYAC Rookie of the Week back on December 2.
