Softball Lose Twice To Mount St. Vincent

Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team lost both encounters of non-conference doubleheader against University of Mount St. Vincent (11-1, 6-5). on Saturday afternoon, at South Field.  The Lightning go to a 4-4 overall mark, while the Dolphins improved to a 7-10 record.

In the opener, Mount St. Vincent took a 3-0 lead in top of third, before Lehman got on the board to make in 3-1.  The Dolphins then scored eight runs in the next two innings for the victory.  Infielder Jelene Figueroa was one-for-two with a run scored for the Lightning, while teammate Patria Sanchez was one-for-three with an RBI.

In the nightcap, Mount St. Vincent once again had the advantage by the top of third inning, this time it was 5-0.  Lehman got four runs in the bottom of the third to make it 5-4.  After the Dolphins crossed home plate again (6-4), the Lightning battled back in the bottom half of the seventh and got a run however, the victors held on for the win.  Sanchez led the Lehman offense with two RBI and a run scored, while outfielder Lizbeth Perez added an RBI and scored twice.

The Lightning are back in action next Friday (April 4th) when they hosts St. Joseph's University-NY, in a non-conference twin-bill, at South Field, with first pitch set for 5 pm ET.
