Bronx, N.Y. – The Lehman College softball team lost both encounters of non-conference doubleheader against University of Mount St. Vincent (11-1, 6-5). on Saturday afternoon, at South Field. The Lightning go to a 4-4 overall mark, while the Dolphins improved to a 7-10 record.
In the opener, Mount St. Vincent took a 3-0 lead in top of third, before Lehman got on the board to make in 3-1. The Dolphins then scored eight runs in the next two innings for the victory. Infielder
Jelene Figueroa was one-for-two with a run scored for the Lightning, while teammate
Patria Sanchez was one-for-three with an RBI.
In the nightcap, Mount St. Vincent once again had the advantage by the top of third inning, this time it was 5-0. Lehman got four runs in the bottom of the third to make it 5-4. After the Dolphins crossed home plate again (6-4), the Lightning battled back in the bottom half of the seventh and got a run however, the victors held on for the win. Lizbeth Perez added an RBI and scored twice.
The Lightning are back in action next Friday (April 4th) when they hosts St. Joseph's University-NY, in a non-conference twin-bill, at South Field, with first pitch set for 5 pm ET.
