Yaphank, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team lost both non-conference encounters to College at Old Westbury, 16-1, 17-9, at Baseball Heaven Park on Saturday. The Lightning go to an 0-3 overall record, while the Panthers improved to a 5-1 mark.
After trailing 2-1 going into the fourth inning in the opener, Lehman gave up three runs and 11 more in the seventh for Old Westbury's victory. The highlight for the Lightning was shortstop
Ryan Rosa who went two-for-three from the plate, while centerfielder
Kevin Arias drove in first baseman
Elias Fermin.
In the nightcap, Lehman battled to tie the game 9-9 going into the seventh inning, however Old Westbury scored eight times to pull away and hold on for the win. Rosa and third baseman
Juan Maldonado had two RBI and scored a run each for the Lightning.
Lehman will look for its first victory since May 9, 2023, when it hosts University of Mount St. Vincent, in a non-conference match-up, at South Field on Thursday (March 13th) at 4 pm ET.
