Lightning Drop Twinbill to Beavers

The Lehman College Baseball team dropped both ends of a doubleheader to the CIty College Beavers by the scores of 4-3 and 15-6.

In the opener played at Bronx Community College's Ohio Field, Lehman's pitcher Justin Chamorro and City's Brandon Paider were in a duel.  Chamarro went the distance striking out 8 and giving up nine hits and 3 earned runs.  Paider threw six strong innings striking out nine and surrendering three runs on four hits.  Reliever Sam Puttock came in for the final inning to get the win striking out a pair of batters.

Lehman jumped on top in the second inning when Eli Fermin belted a solo home run.  The Beavers answered in the bottom half of the frame when Michael Chasanov singled bringing Jake Brenner in to score.  The score remained tied till the bottom of the fifth when the Beavers plated two runs on two hits.  Lehman answered back in the top of sixth with two runs of their own to knot the game.  The Lightning had Juan Maldonado on first after a walk and Eli Fermin on second after a hit by pitch.  With two outs, Yojancel Almonte and Lineil Rivera connected on a single and double respectively to tie the game at three. However, City plated the winning run in the bottom of the seventh for the walk off victory.

In game two, the beavers jumped out to a 5-1 lead after two innings and never looked back.  Rivera and Maldonado each hit home runs for the Lightning in the second game but it was not enough to overcome the 16 hits by the Beavers.
