The Lightning softball squad traveled up to Delhi, NY for a non-conference doubleheader against the Broncos this afternoon with each team winning a game. Lehman took the opener 8-5 while Delhi won the nightcap 9-0.
Lizbeth Perez sparked the Lightning, going 3-4 with three runs scored. Patty Sanchez and Jireh Espina were each credited with a pair of hits. SIx players were credited with RBIs. Lehman scored a pair of runs in the third and two more in the fourth before tacking on three in the top of the fifth to take a 7-1 lead. The Broncos made it close with four runs in the sixth but the Lightning got an insurance run in the seventh for their eighth victory of the season. In game two, the Lightning bats went silent as they could only manage two hits .
The Lightning now stand at 8-16 overall and face New Jersey CIty University in a doubleheader on Thursday afternoon in New Jersey. The Broncos are 7-13 and will host Potsdam tomorrow.
