Softball Fall To John Jay In Twin-Bill

Union, N.J. – The Lehman College softball team lost a CUNYAC doubleheader to hosts John Jay College (11-1, 10-5) at the campus of Kean University, on Friday.  The Lightning go to an 8-20 overall record and 0-8 in CUNYAC action, while the Bloodhounds improved to a 22-8 mark and 8-0 in conference play.

After Lehman took a 1-0 early, John Jay scored 11 unanswered runs for the victory in the opener of the twin-bill.  Leftfielder Yudelis Pena drove in centerfielder Lizbeth Perez for the Lightning's only score of the game.

In the nightcap, John Jay had 5-0 advantage after four innings of action, before Lehman got three runs on the fifth and two more in the sixth to cut the deficit to a single run (6-5).  However, the Bloodhounds answered in the bottom of the sixth with four runs and held on for the win.  Lehman also is the only CUNYAC side to take John Jay to seven-inning game this season.  Lizbeth Perez led the Lightning offense with a homer, a run scored and three RBI, while Pena added two RBI and a run scored.

Lehman will look to end its four-game losing streak when it hosts Purchase College, in a non-conference twin-bill, at South Field on Monday (April 28th) with first pitch set for 4 pm ET.
