New Rochelle, N.Y. – The Lehman College baseball team ended its disappointing season with a 10-7 loss to hosts CCNY in the four-team CUNYAC Championship Semifinals on Tuesday at the Dick Caswell Field.
The Lightning go to a 1-26 overall record, while the Beavers improved to a 12-12 mark and will face Baruch College in the CUNYAC Finale this weekend.
CCNY took a 7-2 lead after six innings of action, before Lehman got two runs on the scoresheet in the top of seventh to cut it to a three-run deficit. After the Beavers answered back with three runs in the bottom of the seventh inning, the Lightning attempted a comeback in the ninth however could manage to cross home plate three times as the home side posted the victory.
First baseman
Juan Maldonado went three-for-four with three runs scored and an RBI for Lehman, while designated hitters
Greg Peguero was three-for-five. Rightfielder
Elias Fermin went two-for-five with two runs scored and a pair of RBI, while shortstop
Ryan Rosa was two-for-four and drove in two runners.
