Bronx, N.Y. – First half tallies from midfielder Rene Lopez and defender Hameed Gado gave the Lehman College men's soccer team a 2-0 victory against visiting College at Old Westbury, in a non-conference encounter, at South Field on Wednesday evening. The Lightning go to a 2-0 overall mark, while the Panthers fall to a 2-2 record.
Lehman got on scoreboard in the seventh minute mark when Lopez headed a freekick cross from defender Joshua Banegas. Gado doubled the Lightning lead just before halftime.
In the second half, Lehman continued to dominate by outshooting Old Westbury 16 to 4, however could not increase its advantage.
Lightning goalkeeper Andres Barajas made just two saves for his second consecutive shutout (11th career).
Lehman continues its home stand on Saturday (September 13th) when it faces Delaware Valley University, in a non-conference game, at South Field with kickoff set for 3:30 pm ET.
