Newburgh, N.Y. – The Lehman College women's tennis team defeated the hosts Mount St. Mary's College-NY, 4-3, in a non-conference match, at MSMC Courts, on Tuesday. The Lightning go to a 2-1 overall record, while the Knights dropped to a 1-2 mark.
After dropping two of the three doubles matches, Lehman took four of the six singles encounters. The Lightning were paced by Gabriela Vargas as she won #1-singles over Knights' Autumn Strobach, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, while Amya Sanchez claimed #2-singles for Lehman, 0-6, 6-2, 7-6 against Angelina Maniero of Mount St. Mary's.
Lightning's Elizabeth Nlemchukwu was victorious in #4-singles over Knights' Megan Mann, 6-2, 2-6, 6-3, while Esther Matthews captured #6-singles for Lehman, 6-0, 6-3, against Jaily Sebestian of Mount St. Mary's.
The Lightning are back in action on Friday (September 19th) when they take on Baruch College in a CUNYAC match-up at The APEX Courts with doubles action commencing at 4 pm ET.
